Band

Wolfram is a four-piece hard rock band from Vaasa, Finland, playing honest rock with roots deep in the music of the 1970s and '80s. Founded in the summer of 2012, the band grew out of a friendship between Matti and Thomas, who met at Åbo Akademi University and began writing and performing together as an acoustic duo before the pull of distortion became impossible to resist.

By spring 2013 the lineup had expanded to four, completed by fellow students from the same university. Their sound draws on the authenticity of an era before digital production reshaped everything — Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Dio — bands whose music carried weight, mystery, and imagery that still resonates. "Music was somehow more authentic a few decades ago," Matti says. The lyrics follow the same philosophy: open-ended, symbolic, left for the listener to interpret.
